Startup Success Aid for Ukrainian Refugees in the USA: 2022

January 16, 2023 2 min

According to Tigergraph, the UAwelcome platform won the Most Impactful Initiative in the U.S., ahead of 3,000 candidates from Ukraine. 💪

So what made the platform an award-winning success?

On the same page with reality

Another wave of refugees has overwhelmed the world following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Searching for ways to help Ukrainian refugees, the Corpsoft.io team partnered with Rubic.us to create a platform that connects volunteers with those who need help.

We focused on two key audiences: Ukrainian families who moved to the U.S. seeking asylum and a new life, and American volunteers with the resources and willingness to help. It became clear that people in the states were ready to support and help newcomers, but didn’t know how and where to start. UAWelcome became their meeting point. 🤝

Using knowledge graphs

With Graphs, we’ve built a crowdsourcing platform that’s easy for both audiences to use and maintain. All participants need to do is fill out simple questionnaires about their needs or abilities to help. Their forms are further exported into csv format, parsed, and stored into TigerGraph. Volunteers can then access this data and offer their aid to relevant requests.

Refugees who have posted a request form are given quick help in finding places to live, arranging documents for arrival, or placing children in schools and kindergartens. Also, some volunteers at UAWelcome are ready to help with temporary or permanent jobs for Ukrainians who have moved to the states.

The main advantages of UAWelcome are the simplicity of the application and its user-friendly interface. This allows us to quickly onboard new volunteers with different levels of technical skills, and this increases the popularity of the platform in the U.S. 📈

Achievements in figures

In 2022, more than 4,000 Ukrainian families found a new living place through the UAWelcome platform, received help with paperwork or placed their children into schools.

On average, 250-300 people per month post requests for help on the platform. Many of them get answers from volunteers even before they actually arrive in the U.S.

Winning the Most Impactful Initiative in the United States helped the UAWelcome startup attract the attention of the public and investors – caring people who are willing to share resources and provide real help to Ukrainians fleeing from war. This seemingly simple idea turned into a relevant on-time startup with people as its main value.
